American Roll Form Products

Clarity that turned data into better decisions.

The Situation

American Roll Form Products (ARF), a custom metal fabricator, relied on several systems to manage its operations, including an ERP, a warehouse management system, and a custom-built plant-floor system. Each had its own reports and metrics, but they rarely agreed.

Reconciling differences between systems became routine. The team had learned to “work around” the inconsistencies, but they knew the approach was costing them efficiency and confidence. The business was running, but not with the clarity they needed to grow.

The Struggle

Every report seemed to tell a slightly different story. Production planning, job costing, and raw material forecasting were all based on data that might or might not match the reality on the floor. The team was forced to make decisions with incomplete information, and that uncertainty quietly drained trust and momentum.

The Refinery's Role

When ARF came to The Refinery, their initial request was simple: help us build better reports. But as we began exploring, the conversation shifted. They didn’t just need new reports, they needed to unify the story their data was telling.

We helped the team focus on what truly mattered: turning data into insight. Every idea, every metric, every report had to answer one question: What business decision will this support?

The Plan

We guided ARF in developing a central reporting database that integrated data from their ERP, WMS, and custom plant-floor systems. From there, we built a series of forward-looking reports that gave leadership visibility into job performance, production planning, and resource utilization.

Each step of the process tied directly to a measurable goal: reducing waste, improving margins, and increasing planning accuracy.

The Victory

With a single source of truth, ARF began making faster, more confident decisions that immediately reduced waste and protected margin. The data that once created confusion now fueled efficiency. They could see waste earlier, plan ahead with precision, and align operations with financial performance.

The system quickly became a cornerstone of daily operations, transforming how the company used data to manage performance and profitability.

The Lesson

ARF’s story is a reminder that technology alone doesn’t create clarity. It comes from disciplined focus on the “why.” By insisting that every metric and every report serve a specific decision, ARF avoided waste and built a foundation for long-term operational insight.

At The Refinery, that’s what LoBI brings to every engagement: clarity before code, and confidence that every technology investment delivers measurable business impact.
