OEC provides high quality eCommerce and technology solutions to automakers and franchised dealers that facilitate the sale of Original Equipment (OE) replacement parts. In addition to the auto industry, OEC expanded their capabilities to additional OE manufacturers in other industries, both domestically and abroad, who are looking for eCommerce expertise in expediting and supporting their parts supply chains.
To redesign the OEC company website to better position them as a technology leader. Our strategy would include the reorganization of the website so visitors could easily find what they were looking for as well as select, implement and train OEC team members on the newly implemented content management system so they would be able to easily maintain the website moving forward.
We talked with all of the stakeholders to determine everyone’s priorities, needs and the definition of success in order to help shape the scope and priorities of the redesign. Next, we dug into the analytics to identify key user paths on the current site, where visitors were dropping off of the site and the top landing pages visited from a variety of sources.
Once we had a good understanding of the goals for redesign in addition to the data from the current site, we started an audit of the site structure so we could identify the optimal way to organize the content and structure the navigation. OEC offers various solutions to a wide range of users that all needed to be clearly represented.
In the wireframe stage, The Refinery restructured the layout of the content with the goals of immediately providing value to the users and maintaining consistent template structures across the new site. Having a consistent template structure will allow OEC to easily maintain the site as it evolves over time. Using OEC’s brand guidelines, The Refinery created high fidelity designs from these wireframes.
With approved wireframes, design approach and a defined style guide, we identified the technical requirements needed for implementation. We recommended CraftCMS as the appropriate content management system due to it's simplicity and design flexibility.

The Refinery was able to build a site for us that matched exactly what we were looking for and now meets the needs of people looking at the site from their phone or tablet. I would say that The Refinery is really dedicated to understanding your business and building a site that is not only going to work for your customer, but also for your internal teams.
